Educational Qualifications:
Graduate Teacher (Arts & Science):
- For the position of Graduate Teacher (Arts), candidates must hold a degree in Arts/Commerce or a Post Graduate degree in Arts/Commerce from a recognized University with a minimum of 50% marks in either Graduation or Post Graduation (or its equivalent).
- A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a National Council for Teacher Education recognized Institution(s) is also required.
- For the position of Graduate Teacher (Science), candidates should have a Science Graduate or Post Graduate degree in Science from a recognized University with at least 50% marks in either Graduation or Post Graduation (or its equivalent).
- A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a National Council for Teacher Education recognized Institution(s) is mandatory.
Graduate Teacher (Hindi):
- Pravin/Ratna in Hindi with 50% marks and a degree qualification with 50% marks or a Post Graduate degree in Arts with 50% marks from any recognized University.
- Alternatively, a BA with 50% marks with Hindi as one of the subjects with 50% marks, or Post Graduate in Arts with 50% marks, provided the candidate has passed BA with Hindi as one of the subjects with 50% marks in Hindi.
- B.T/B.Ed. degree from any recognized University (Parangat to be treated as B.Ed. degree).
Graduate Teacher (Sanskrit):
- Shastri with 50% marks and a degree qualification with 50% marks or a Post Graduate degree in Arts with 50% marks from any recognized University.
- Alternatively, a BA with 50% marks and having Sanskrit as one of the subjects with 50% marks, or a Post Graduate Degree in Arts with 50% marks in Sanskrit.
- B.T./B.Ed. degree from any recognized University.
Note Regarding Off-campus Degrees:
As per the Assam Secondary Education (Provincialised Schools) (Amendment) Service Rules, 2021, degrees/certificates from institutions with territorial jurisdiction outside the State of Assam, but with a study center in the State, will only be considered valid if recognized by DEC under UGC. Degrees/certificates issued by off-campus institutions without such recognition shall not be considered valid for employment under the Education Department. However, degrees/diplomas conferred by KKHSOU, IGNOU, IDOL under Gauhati University, and Distance Education under Dibrugarh University will be considered valid for employment purposes.
Medium of Instruction
- Passed HSLC or equivalent Examination with Assamese Language as one of the subjects, or
- Obtained a Diploma in Assamese Language issued by the Axom Sahitya Sabha, or
- Completed studies up to HSLC level in an Assamese medium School.

- Obtained a Diploma in Bengali language issued by the Barak Upatyaka Bangya Sahitya O Sanskriti Sammelan, or
- Completed studies up to HSLC level in a Bengali medium School.
- Passed HSLC or equivalent Examination with Hindi language as one of the subjects, or
- Completed studies up to HSLC level in Hindi medium School.
- Passed HSLC or equivalent Examination with Bodo language as one of the subjects, or
- Completed studies up to HSLC level in a Bodo Medium School.
- Passed HSLC or equivalent Examination with Alternative English as one of the subjects, or
- Started studying from Class XI onwards in an English Medium School.
