Assam Special TET 2026 Notification – Apply Online for LP & UP Teacher Eligibility Test
The Government of Assam has officially released the notification for Assam Special TET 2026 for Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) levels. This Special Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted for candidates belonging to Bodo, Garo, Manipuri, and Hmar medium, strictly following the NCTE guidelines.
Eligible candidates who are permanent residents of Assam can appear in Paper I (LP) and Paper II (UP) of Special Assam TET 2026. Candidates qualifying this exam will become eligible to participate in future elementary teacher recruitment processes in Assam, subject to fulfillment of other academic and professional qualifications as prescribed by NCTE.

Candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.
Educational Qualification as per NCTE Norms
Lower Primary TET (Classes I to V)
Candidates must fulfill any one of the following qualifications:
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
ORSenior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
ORSenior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
ORGraduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
Upper Primary TET (Classes VI to VIII)
Candidates must possess any one of the following qualifications:
Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
ORAt least 50% marks in Graduation and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.).
ORAt least 55% marks in Post Graduation or its equivalent grade and a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. programme.
ORSenior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
ORSenior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.A./B.Sc. Ed. or B.A. Ed/B.Sc. Ed.
ORGraduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
Note: Minimum percentage criteria in graduation shall not apply to candidates who took admission in B.Ed./B.El.Ed. courses before 29 July 2011.
Relaxation in Academic Marks
5% relaxation in qualifying marks is applicable for SC / ST / OBC / MOBC / PWD (PH) candidates.
For PH candidates, the minimum disability should be 40%, certified by a competent authority.
