Salary:

UGC pay scale of ₹57,700/- -1,82,400/- with additional allowances as per the rules of the Assam Government.

Educational Qualification:

In order to be eligible for direct recruitment as an Assistant Professor, candidates must adhere to the qualifications outlined in Clause 3.0.0/4.0 .014.4014.4.1 of the UGC Regulations dated 30th June 2010. The key qualifications include:

1. Good Academic Record:

   • A good academic record as defined by the concerned University.
   • At least 55% marks or an equivalent grade on a point scale at the Master’s degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.

2. National Eligibility Test (NET):

   • Candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.

3. Ph.D. Degree Exemption:

   • Candidates with a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the University Grant Commission (Minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree Regulation, 2009) are exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET.

4. NET/SLET/SET Exemption:

   • NET/SLET/SET shall not be required for Master programs in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.

5. Relaxation for Reserved Categories:

   • A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and Master’s level for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled (Physically and visually differently-abled) categories for eligibility purposes. This relaxation does not include any grace period (Clause 3.4.1).

6. Teaching/Research Experience:

   • The period taken by candidates to acquire M.Phil and/or Ph.D. degrees shall not be considered as teaching/research experience for appointment to the positions (Clause 3.9.0).
