Job Profile of Community Health Officer (CHO):

The CHO cadre is a crucial component of the Ayushman Bharat initiative, which aims to enhance Sub-Centers as Health and Wellness Centers (H&WCs) to provide primary healthcare services in Sub-Center areas. This initiative focuses on bolstering the implementation of public health programs, including disease prevention and health promotion.

Selected candidates will be assigned to Sub-Centers’ Health & Wellness Centers as CHOs (Community Health Officers). Their role will involve leading a primary healthcare team comprising frontline workers such as Female Health Workers (ANMs), Male Health Workers (MPWs), and ASHAs who operate within the Sub-Center. Together, they will work towards delivering comprehensive healthcare services and promoting the well-being of the local community.

Educational Qualification:

  1. Candidates should have passed B.Sc. (Nursing) or Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing) with an Integrated Certificate Course in Community Health or B.Sc. (Community Health).

  2. The B.Sc. (Nursing) or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing program should be completed from a nursing institution or university recognized by the Indian Nursing Council or Assam Nurses Midwives’ & Health Visitors’ Council.

  3. Candidates must be registered as a Nurse and Midwife (RNRM) with the Assam Nurses Midwives’ & Health Visitors’ Council.

  4. Candidates are required to submit a certificate from the Principal of their respective nursing college, confirming the completion of the Integrated Certificate Course in Community Health. Please refer to Appendix I for the format of the certificate.
