Education Qualification of Stenographer Grade-II Vacancy 2026
Applicants must satisfy all the following eligibility requirements:
- Must be a Graduate from a UGC-recognized University.
- Must possess a Diploma or Certificate in Stenography/Shorthand from ITI, Polytechnic, or any recognized institute.
- Candidates pursuing Stenography/Shorthand may also apply, provided they submit the required qualification certificate during document verification.
- Must have adequate knowledge of the Assamese language.
- Must possess a valid Employment Exchange Registration Number issued in Assam.

The recruitment process consists of three stages.
Stage 1: Stenography Test
- Voice Test before dictation
- Shorthand Speed Test (100 words per minute for 700 words)
- Computer Familiarization
- Transcription Test
Stage 2: Written Examination
- Objective (OMR-based)
- English Language Proficiency – 50 Marks
- Assamese Language – 20 Marks
- Duration: 1½ Hours
Candidates must secure at least 40% marks separately in both English and Assamese sections to qualify.
Stage 3: Viva-Voce
- Total Marks: 10
The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined marks obtained in the Stenography Test and Viva-Voce.
