Education Qualification of Agniveer Vayu Vacancy 2026

Candidates must satisfy any one of the following educational qualifications prescribed in the official notification.

Science Stream

Applicants should have passed Intermediate (10+2) or an equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics, and English from a recognized Central, State, or Union Territory Education Board with:

• Minimum 50% aggregate marks, and
• Minimum 50% marks in English.

OR

Candidates who have completed a three-year Diploma in Engineering in any of the following disciplines from a recognized Polytechnic Institute are also eligible:

• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Electronics Engineering
• Automobile Engineering
• Computer Science Engineering
• Instrumentation Technology
• Information Technology

They must have secured:

• At least 50% aggregate marks, and
• 50% marks in English in the diploma course or in Intermediate/Matriculation if English was not a subject in the diploma.

OR

Candidates who have passed a two-year Vocational Course with Physics and Mathematics as non-vocational subjects from a recognized Education Board are eligible, provided they have obtained:

• Minimum 50% aggregate marks, and
• Minimum 50% marks in English in the vocational course or in Intermediate/Matriculation if English was not included in the vocational curriculum.

Other Than Science Stream

Candidates from non-science backgrounds must have passed Intermediate (10+2) or an equivalent examination in any stream approved by a recognized Central, State, or Union Territory Education Board with:

• Minimum 50% aggregate marks, and
• Minimum 50% marks in English.

OR

Applicants who have completed a two-year Vocational Course from a recognized Education Board with:

• At least 50% aggregate marks, and
• Minimum 50% marks in English in the vocational course or in Intermediate/Matriculation if English was not a subject, are also eligible to apply for the recruitment.

Other Eligibility Criteria

Apart from the educational qualification, candidates must satisfy the following eligibility conditions before applying for the Agniveer Vayu post.

Age Limit

Candidates should be born between 01 July 2005 and 01 January 2010 (both dates inclusive).

Candidates who successfully clear all stages of the selection process must not exceed 22 years of age on the date of enrollment.

Nationality

• Candidates must be citizens of India and should fulfill all eligibility conditions prescribed by the Indian Air Force.

Mandatory Medical Standards

Applicants must meet the medical standards laid down by the Indian Air Force. Important requirements are given below.

Height

• Male Candidates: Minimum height of 152 cm.
• Female Candidates: Minimum height of 152 cm.
• Candidates belonging to the North Eastern States or hilly regions of Uttarakhand are eligible with a minimum height of 147 cm.
• Candidates from Lakshadweep require a minimum height of 150 cm.

Chest

Male Candidates

• Minimum chest circumference: 77 cm
• Chest expansion: At least 5 cm

Female Candidates

• Well-developed chest with a minimum expansion of 5 cm.

Weight

Weight should be proportionate to height and age as per Indian Air Force medical standards.

Hearing

Candidates should possess normal hearing and must be able to hear a forced whisper from a distance of 6 metres with each ear separately.

Dental Standards

Candidates should have:

• Healthy gums
• Good set of teeth
• Minimum 14 dental points

General Health

Candidates should:

• Be physically and mentally fit.
• Be free from any chronic or acute disease.
• Have no active skin ailments or surgical disabilities.
• Be capable of serving anywhere in India or abroad under different climatic conditions.

Gynaecological Examination (Female Candidates)

Female candidates will undergo a gynaecological examination covering external genitalia, hernia orifices, perineum, stress urinary incontinence, and genital prolapse.

Pregnancy

Female candidates found pregnant at any stage of the recruitment process will be declared medically unfit and their candidature will be cancelled.

Body Tattoo Policy

Permanent body tattoos are generally not permitted.

However, tattoos are allowed only in the following cases:

• Inner side of the forearm (inside of elbow to wrist)
• Back portion of the hand
• Traditional tribal tattoos permitted under customs and traditions

Offensive, obscene, indecent, racist, or sexist tattoos are strictly prohibited.

Candidates having permissible tattoos must produce the required photographs and related details during the selection process.
