The vacancies are distributed among different Railway Recruitment Boards and Zonal Railways. The detailed RRB-wise and Zone-wise vacancy list is available in Annexure-B of the official notification. Vacancies are provisional and may increase or decrease depending on the requirements of the Railway Administration.
Salary
Selected candidates will receive an initial basic pay of Rs. 35,400/- under Level-6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) along with admissible Railway allowances as per government rules.

Education Qualification of Section Controller Vacancy 2026
Candidates must possess the following educational qualification on or before the closing date of the online application:
- A Graduate Degree or its equivalent from a recognized University or Institution.
- Candidates awaiting the final result of the prescribed qualification are not eligible to apply.
- Educational qualification certificates should clearly indicate the date of issue. Where applicable, consolidated mark sheets or semester-wise mark sheets showing the declaration date of the result may also be accepted during Document Verification.

- UR/EWS: Born between 02 July 1993 and 01 July 2006
- OBC-NCL: Born between 02 July 1990 and 01 July 2006
- SC/ST: Born between 02 July 1988 and 01 July 2006
Age Relaxation
Age relaxation is available as per Government of India rules:
- OBC-NCL: 3 Years
- SC/ST: 5 Years
- PwBD: Up to 15 Years (depending on category)
- Ex-Servicemen: As per Government rules
- Railway Employees and other eligible categories: As prescribed in the official notification.
Nationality
Applicants must be:
- A Citizen of India; or
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan; or
- A person of Indian origin meeting the conditions specified in the official notification.
Medical Standard
Candidates must satisfy the A-2 Medical Standard prescribed for the post. Applicants who have undergone LASIK surgery or any refractive eye surgery are not eligible for the Section Controller post.

Fee Refund
- Candidates belonging to General/OBC/EWS categories who appear in the CBT will receive a refund of Rs. 400 after deduction of applicable bank charges.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Ex-Servicemen, Minority Communities and EBC categories who appear in the CBT will receive a refund of Rs. 250 after deduction of applicable bank charges.
- The application fee can be paid only through online mode using Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI.

How to Apply for Section Controller Vacancy – RRB 2026
Eligible candidates can submit their applications by following these steps:
- Visit the official website of your preferred Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).
- Create a new account if you are a first-time applicant. Candidates who already created an account during previous RRB notifications (2024, 2025 or 2026) can use the same login credentials.
- Log in using your registered User ID and Password.
- Fill in the online application form carefully with all required personal, educational and communication details.
- Upload the required live photograph, signature and other prescribed documents.
- Choose the preferred RRB and Railway Zone carefully. This selection cannot be changed later.
- Pay the application fee through the available online payment methods.

Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of the following stages:
- Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Document Verification (DV)
- Medical Examination
Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Single-stage objective examination.
- Negative marking of 1/3 mark for every incorrect answer.
- Normalization of marks will be applied if the examination is conducted in multiple shifts.
Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
Candidates will be shortlisted for CBAT based on their CBT performance. Approximately eight times the number of vacancies (RRB-wise) may be called for the aptitude test.
Document Verification
Candidates qualifying both CBT and CBAT will be called for Document Verification based on combined merit.
Final Merit
The final merit list will be prepared by giving:
- 70% weightage to CBT marks.
- 30% weightage to CBAT marks.
Candidates must also qualify the prescribed medical fitness standards before appointment.
